Mother Earth Day in the Novohrad-Nógrád Geopark
The COVID-19 pandemic will restrict Mother Earth Day events to partly closed and partly online programs in our geopark this year.
The cliff rising 84 m high near the edge of Šurice village egy is a diatreme, and its upper part is a block of settled sediments from the former maar-lake.
Herrmann M. (1941) was the first to give a detailed description. A tuff-breccia forms the lower part of the cliff, which contains porous basalt clast and sandstone inclusions torn up from the basement. (Konečny et al. 2004).
