The Harkály [Woodpecker] House awaits visitors as the center for ecotourism and environmental education of the Bükk National Park Directorate.
In the impressive building in an interactive exhibition we present the flora and fauna of the Mátra Mountains, and together with this, first of all for children, we want to bring closer the treasures of the Mátra.
It is worth downloading the exhibition guide before the visit, thus the visitors can walk around the exhibition rooms on their own. You can also opt for guided tours, groups are advised to make an appointment at this e-mail address: harkalyhaz@bnpi.hu.
It is useful to include a walk along the educational trail, since there are two of them starting from the Harkály House. “Cincér” [Longhorn Beetle] is an educational trail presenting the forest, whereas the “Mandula” [Almond] educational trail focuses on the wildlife of the Sár Hill.
In our souvenir shop you can buy souvenirs connected to the topic of the exhibition, the publications of the Bükk National Park Directorate, and some products with Bükk National Park trade mark.
Parking is free in the yard.
