In the side valley on the northwestern side of the Erzsébet Valley, the steep sandstone hill of Nagy-kő is visible from afar, shaped by surface weathering into its present form. Its southern and southeastern, nearly vertical rock face is characterized by sandstone loaves and jagged layers formed by the erosion of more cemented parts.
There was once a hillfort on top of Nagy-kő, the remains of which can still be seen today. The former settlement is classified as one of the fortified settlements belonging to the Late Bronze Age Kyjatice culture (12th–7th century BC).
Nagy-kő is a protected natural area located in the Tarnavidék Landscape Protection Area.
Nagy-kő and its surroundings are presented by an educational trail. It is open to the public.
