On the Latorvár Hill rising above Latorpuszta, the northern part of Sály, human habitation from prehistoric times to the Middle Ages is visible.

The Latorvár Hill and its western slope are surrounded by a rampart. Archaeological research has uncovered a Late Bronze Age settlement in the area surrounded by the ramparts.

Early Iron Age settlement objects have been found in the northeastern part of the earthwork.

In the 10th–11th centuries, the Örsúr clan built a large rampart castle on the upper plateau of the hilltop, on top of the prehistoric settlement.

At the lower end of the rocky ridge starting from the southern end of Latorvár-tető, the 4–4.5 m high wall stump of the 12th–13th century Lator Castle still stands today.

Lator Castle is freely accessible to visitors.
