A short walk from the Suba-lyuk Museum and Visitor Center on the outskirts of Cserépfalu takes us to a cave opening on the steep side of the Hór Valley. The inactive spring cave, consisting of a single large chamber, was formed in Triassic limestone.

Its significance is due to the Neanderthal remains, stone tools and almost complete stratigraphic sequence covering the last phase of the Ice Age found inside.

The cave fill contained the skeletal remains of a 25-35-year-old woman and a child around 3 years old, along with animal bones, chipped stone tools, and charcoal remains indicating the use of fire.

Suba-lyuk is a highly protected natural and archaeological site.

It is open to the public.
