The COVID-19 pandemic will restrict Mother Earth Day events to partly closed and partly online programs in our geopark this year.

From 9 am, the Bükk National Park Directorate, as one of the main stakeholders of the transnational Novohrad-Nógrád Geopark, will organise litter collecting at several geosites of the geopark, then on the spot interpretation will take place to get to know their geoheritage.

From 13:00, Professor Gergely Horváth,retired lecturer of the Institute of Geography and Earth Sciences of ELTE, will give an online scientific presentation on our sister geopark, the Lushan UNESCO Global Geopark, about the background of the partnership and about the Geodiversity Day initiative.

At 15:00, Imre Szarvas of the Ipolytarnóc Fossils Nature reserve will give a presentation on the two ongoing INTERREG projects of the Bükk National Park Directorate concerning geotourism, as well as on the GEOTUR ERASMUS+ project of our geopark, which aims to promote geotourism in Europe.
The event is linked to UNESCO's Global Geoparks Network's Mother Earth Day programme, it can be downloaded from here.

The two afternoon presentations will be conducted in Hungarian, they are open to all, but registration is required.
